The eerie looking home used for the exterior shots is the Ennis Brown house in Los Angeles, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1924. It was later used in the films "Blade Runner", "Black Rain", and "Rocketeer". | |

| The Morning Ritual | 2001 | CC by-nc-nd 2.5 | "Craig Brewer has managed to capture a feeling of dread and anticipation here extremely well, from the crisp and stark monochrome photography to the pacing of the editing to the actors and their gloomy faces. The sound editing is wonderful as, through that he captures that feeling and holds onto it and builds up the tension." (this is a short film) | ||

| Bicycle safety | 1950 | CC pd | sound/b&w | 9:48 | Points out that the bicycle rider is responsible for maintaining the bicycle in good condition, obeying traffic rules and watching out for others. The film also reads like a laundry list of hazardous things to attempt on your bicycle! |
| Soapy the germ fighter | 1951 | CC pd | sound/color | 9:57 | Young Billy Martin has to learn that being clean isn't the same as being a sissy. Dear VTU,
We are Free Culture at Virginia Tech (http://vt.freeculture.org), a chapter of Free Culture (http://freeculture.org).
One of our interests is public domain films. Not only are they free of cost, but you can freely modify and distribute them as much as you want without any legal restrictions. There is almost no better time for public domain films than around Halloween. Some of the greatest public domain films include Night of the Living Dead, The Wolf Man, The House on Haunted Hill, The Brain that Wouldn't Die, and The Last Man on Earth.
Our chapter is only a small student organization, but we would like to have a big public domain movie night around Halloween. If we could work with you to make this happen, that would help us greatly in terms of resources (Room, projector, etc.). On the other hand, we would be more than willing to lend our own help as well. Furthermore, not having to pay royalties for the films will help your budget, even possibly enough to let students attend this event for free.
If you would like to work with us, would like to know more about free movies, or have any other questions, please contact us at freeculture@vt.edu.

Further correspondence
- This morning, Kellie Kauffman, VTU's Films Director contacted me and was interested in hearing more about what we wanted to do. I have responded with more details, including the mention of a possible double feature, as well as giving a list of public domain films, and am awaiting a reply. Conley 00:13, 11 September 2007 (JST)
- Kellie has responeded and wants to know our financial situation. They may be willing to help out some, but it is going to cost around $385 to show one movie.
- ~$120 for venue including set up
- ~$80 for 3hours technician costs
- ~$160 Advertising with the paper.
- ~$25 Flyering
- Turns out, it will be a lot cheaper than we had planned because we won't be charging to make up for royalties (We won't have to pay for the room and stuff). Kellie will work on picking a weekend (preferably) and a room.
- Yay for free movies! ~ Conley 01:26, 22 September 2007 (JST)
- I went by the VTU office and got more information. There aren't any weekends open, but Haymarket will be open on Halloween (that is a Wednesday). I also got information on getting a small grant to cover the costs. ~ Conley 23:47, 26 September 2007 (JST)
- It's going to be $57 and I am working on getting a grant. I will finalize some paperwork with Kellie on Wednesday. --Conley 09:40, 9 October 2007 (JST)
The Lyric
We probably will not bother contacting the Lyric if the VTU wants to partner with us. Conley 00:13, 11 September 2007 (JST)
