TiVo wins appeal against Dish, uses patents to shut down Dish DVRs

TiVo sued Dish in 2005 for patent infringement of a 'multimedia time warping system.' In April 2006 it was ruled guilty, so Dish counter sued to have the patent re-examined. Last Novemeber the patent was ruled to be valid. Dish appealed, but lost. In all likelihood Dish will either have to pay the $89.6M infringement fees or be forced to deactivate its customer's DVRs.
